SOME MOMENTS YOU COULD NEVER PLAN
During a wedding in Bali, I photographed the couple standing high on a cliff overlooking the ocean while I directed them from the beach below.
Suddenly, the wind caught the bride’s veil — her grandmother’s veil — and carried it out over the water.
Then, almost unbelievably, the veil began rising back up out of the ocean.
It wasn’t until I zoomed into the image afterwards that I realised what had happened.
Hidden within the cliff face below was a fisherman, balancing on the rocks with his fishing line extended into the sea. Seeing the veil drifting away, he carefully hooked it and lifted it to safety.
For all of us standing there, it felt surreal.
One of those moments no one could ever plan… yet nobody would ever forget.
